Biography

Professor Vish Viswanathan received his Ph.D. in Operations Research with a minor in Operations Management from Case Western Reserve University in 1992. He graduated with an MBA (Gold Medalist) from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta in 1986 and earned his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras in 1984. With over 33 years of experience as a faculty member at Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, he currently serves as a Full Professor. His previous teaching experience includes the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University in Texas. Vish is the Director of the Centre of Business Sustainability and has held various leadership roles, including Associate Dean (Research) and Head of the Division of Information Technology & Operations Management (ITOM). He has been instrumental in developing new programs and curricula, including the NTU-Waseda double MBA program and various executive education programs. His teaching focuses on Corporate Sustainability, Decarbonization, and Circular Economy, while his research interests lie in Decarbonization, Life Cycle Analysis, Energy Modelling, and Business Model Innovation. He has published extensively in top-tier journals and has received several awards, including the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017 and the Nanyang Award for Research Excellence in 2010.
