Dr. Saana Jukola

Biography

I am a researcher and assistant professor at the University of Twente. My primary focus is on the philosophy of health sciences and social epistemology. I investigate how epistemic and non-epistemic factors, particularly social and institutional influences, intertwine in the production of knowledge. My work has involved exploring topics such as the commercialization of research, standards of evidence in nutrition science, and peer review processes. Additionally, I am interested in how alcohol research can influence racial biases in healthcare and forensic medicine. I have previously worked at institutions including the University of Jyväskylä, University of Johannesburg, Bielefeld University, Witten/Herdecke University, and Ruhr University Bochum, as well as the University of Bonn. My expertise lies in social sciences, objectivity in evidence, medical research, psychology, and research judgment biases.
