Biography

Sabine Achour has been a professor of Political Didactics and Political Education at the Otto Suhr Institute of Political Science at the Free University of Berlin since October 2018. She previously held the position of professor for the Didactics of Political Education at Philipps University of Marburg and was a visiting professor at the Otto Suhr Institute of FU Berlin. Her research focuses on the challenges posed to political education by diversity and increasing social inequality. She addresses issues related to ideologies of inequality, migration, inclusion, comprehensive language education, and religious plurality. Achour has received the Walter Jacobsen Award for political education in 2015 for her dissertation on Muslim citizens and political education in the context of migration and integration. She is actively involved in the training of educators and is the current chair of the Berlin chapter of the German Association for Political Education (DVPB). Achour also contributes to various editorial roles in academic journals and is a founding member of the Interdisciplinary Center for Inclusion Research at Humboldt University in Berlin.
