Dr. Sabine Maasen

Biography

Sabine Maasen holds the Chair of Science Studies and Innovation Research at the University of Hamburg. Her research primarily focuses on new forms of responsible knowledge production, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinarity, transdisciplinarity, and participation in the context of innovation in science and technology. Over her career, she has been instrumental in various roles, including directing the TransferAgentur Hamburg University and serving as the Chair of Sociology of Science at the Technical University of Munich. Maasen's academic journey began with a Diploma in Sociology at the University of Bielefeld, followed by a PhD in Sociology and a Habilitation. Throughout her career, she has supervised numerous dissertations and was recognized for her exemplary work in the fields of sociology and innovation studies. Her ongoing research explores the complex relationship between science and society, aiming to foster sustainable innovation in the digital age. Maasen is also an active member of several advisory boards and has contributed significantly to the discourse surrounding knowledge exchange in higher education.
