Biography

Sabine Süsstrunk leads the Image Visual Representation Lab at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) since 1999. She served as the Director of the Digital Humanities Institute from 2015 to 2020 and has contributed significantly to the fields of Computational Photography, Computational Imaging, Color Image Processing, Computer Vision, and Machine Learning. Over her career, she has authored and co-authored 200 publications, earning seven paper/demo awards. Süsstrunk holds ten patents and has held various roles in international conferences, including Chair of the IEEE International Conference on Computational Photography (ICCP) in 2024. She served as the President of the Swiss Science Council and was a founding member of the EPFL-WISH Foundation. Her contributions to color imaging and computational photography were recognized with the IS&T/SPIE Electronic Imaging Scientist of the Year Award in 2013. Additionally, she has received multiple teaching excellence awards, including at EPFL.
