Dr. Sabrina Diano

Biography

Sabrina Diano is a Professor in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Physiology at Yale University. She received her PhD from the University of Naples Federico II in 1993 and has been at Yale since the year 2000, where she conducts research specializing in central nervous system mechanisms governing energy metabolism and glucose homeostasis. Diano's work focuses particularly on hypothalamic mechanisms that regulate these processes, which have significant implications for understanding metabolic syndrome, obesity, and type 2 diabetes—common disorders that pose severe health challenges in the United States and globally. Her research has shown how alterations in energy storage are sensed by the hypothalamus, providing critical insights into the central regulation of metabolism.
