Dr. Sabrina Peric

Biography

Sabrina Perić is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology and Archaeology at the University of Calgary. She grew up in Rijeka, Croatia, a port city known for its deep water and oil refinery. Her research examines how societal and political factors shape resource industries, with a focus on the role of individuals and communities in energy transition possibilities. She is the co-director of the Energy Stories Project, funded by the Canadian Foundation for Innovation, which emphasizes a community-based collaborative approach to energy research, integrating anthropological visual participatory methods. Additionally, Perić serves as the Academic Co-Lead for Energy Futures and co-convenes the Energy Society Research Group. Her research interests cover the social aspects of energy transitions, visual anthropology, resource extraction, and historical anthropology.
