Dr. Sabrineh Ardalan

Biography

Sabrineh Ardalan is a Clinical Professor of Law and Director of the Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinic at Harvard Law School. In her role, she supervises and trains law students engaged in deportation defense and appellate litigation, advocating on cutting-edge issues in U.S. immigration and asylum law. Her scholarship particularly focuses on asylum law, solitary confinement in immigration contexts, and the surveillance of immigrants, alongside detention and deportation matters. Ardalan has authored briefs for submission to the Board of Immigration Appeals and various federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court. She has taught law courses on immigration and refugee law, emphasizing trauma-informed and client-centered approaches. Her work has garnered attention from major media outlets like The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and The Boston Globe, as well as op-eds in The Atlantic and The Hill. Prior to joining Harvard, she clerked for Hon. Michael Chagares of the U.S. Court of Appeals and Hon. Raymond J. Dearie in the Eastern District of New York. Ardalan has held various fellowships and positions that reflect her commitment to social justice and immigrant rights advocacy.
