Dr. Sabu Abraham

Biography

Sabu Abraham is a Lecturer in Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Manchester. He completed his Ph.D. in Biochemistry in 2004 at the University of Cologne, Germany, after obtaining an M.Sc. in Medical Biochemistry from Mahatma Gandhi University, India, in 1999, and a B.Sc. from the same institution in 1996. His research primarily focuses on the mechanisms underlying blood vessel development and their implications in various human diseases, including cardiovascular and eye diseases, as well as cancer. Dr. Abraham's work on abnormal vessel growth emphasizes its critical role in disease pathogenesis. He aims to uncover cellular signaling pathways that regulate angiogenesis, which are essential for developing novel therapeutic strategies. Throughout his career, he has held various academic positions, including Postdoctoral Fellow at Cancer Research UK and Institute of Cancer Research. Additionally, he has been a Senior Research Associate at University College London before joining the University of Manchester. Dr. Abraham is an active member of several professional societies and organizations, including the British Society for Cardiovascular Research and the European Vascular Biology Organisation, contributing to academic discussions and advancements in his field.
