Biography

Sacha Prechal is a Professor of European Law at Utrecht University, having previously held similar positions at the University of Tilburg. She studied law at the University of Groningen and obtained her PhD in Law from the University of Amsterdam. Prechal began her career as a Lecturer at the Law Faculty of the University of Maastricht, followed by a role as Legal Secretary at the Court of Justice of the European Communities. Her academic work focuses on EU law, particularly on judicial protection in the EU, the relationship between EU law and national law, and issues of EU anti-discrimination law. She is a member of the editorial advisory board for several national and international legal journals and has authored numerous publications in her field. In addition to her professorship, she is a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences and has received an honoris causa degree from Tilburg University and the European University Institute.
