Biography

Saeid Saidi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Calgary. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Transportation from the University of Calgary, and he also received a Master's degree in the same field from the same institution. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Industrial Systems Engineering from Sharif University of Technology. Prior to joining the University of Calgary, he was a Postdoctoral Associate at the Institute for Data, Systems, and Society at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was a member of the MIT Transit Lab. Dr. Saidi is actively involved in research focused on intelligent autonomous systems, optimization decision support, transportation systems analysis, and big data analytics. His main research activities include transportation network modeling and public transportation planning, where he utilizes mobility sensing data to create actionable insights for city transportation authorities. He is also engaged with Canadian Urban Transit Research & Innovation Consortium's Academic Committee and contributes to the Transportation Research Board's Rail Transit Systems Committee.
