Biography

Sahar Dowlatshahi is a board-certified periodontist and dental implant surgeon. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of California, San Francisco, followed by completing her specialty training in periodontology and a Master of Medical Sciences at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Her clinical research interests encompass implant dentistry, bone regeneration, the perio-ortho interface, and innovative teaching in surgical education. In her academic role at UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry, Dr. Dowlatshahi maintains an active clinical practice as a periodontist and has presented her research at national meetings. She also serves on various institutional professional committees and is the recipient of the 2023 Dr. Colin Richman Perio-Ortho Interface Award. Dr. Dowlatshahi's clinical interests include implant dentistry, regenerative and resective periodontal therapy, laser therapy, and surgically facilitated orthodontics.
