Biography

Said Mahmoudi is a professor of international law at Stockholm University since 1999. He holds a Master of Laws from Tehran (1974), a Diploma in Graduate Legal Studies from Stockholm (1984), and a Doctor of Laws from Stockholm (1987). His academic career also includes being a docent in international law from Stockholm in 1988. Prior to his academic positions, he served as a diplomat at the Iranian embassy in Stockholm from 1974 to 1981 and worked with the Iranian Foreign Ministry. Mahmoudi has been involved in various esteemed roles including arbitrator appointed by the Swedish government in accordance with Annex VII of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. He also served as Dean of the Stockholm Faculty of Law from 2009 to 2011. His research primarily focuses on law of the sea, international environmental law, use of force, international organizations, and state immunity.
