Saied Jalal Aboodarda joined the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Calgary in 2015 as a Postdoctoral Fellow, where he gained significant expertise in neuromuscular fatigue and human performance research. He earned his PhD in Exercise Physiology from the University of Malaya, Malaysia, in 2012, focusing on the neuromuscular, hormonal, and morphological responses to variable external resistance training. Following his doctoral studies, he pursued postdoctoral research in neurophysiology at Memorial University of Newfoundland, which was funded by MITACS. His research tenure at Memorial lasted three years until 2015, where he developed insights into the mechanisms of acute and chronic fatigue in individuals with multiple sclerosis and healthy young and older adults. He completed another three-year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Calgary under Professor Guillaume Millet, focusing on the neurophysiological responses to exercise in relation to pain and fatigue stimuli. Dr. Aboodarda became an assistant professor in 2020, continuing his research on neuromuscular, perceptual, and cardiorespiratory responses that determine exercise tolerance in both healthy individuals and those with neurodegenerative diseases. He employs neurophysiological techniques such as magnetic and electrical stimulation and electroencephalography to explore how central and peripheral systems regulate exercise performance.
