Biography

Saima Alvi received her undergraduate and postgraduate training in pediatrics, completing a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology in Pakistan. In 2009, she relocated to Vancouver, Canada, where she completed a three-year clinical fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant at BC Children's Hospital. By 2012, she joined the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, further enhancing her experience in Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant. After five years working in Pediatric Oncology with the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, she joined Jim Pattison Children's Hospital in January 2022 as a Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist. Dr. Alvi is notably the lead physician for the childhood cancer survivorship late effects program in Saskatchewan and an active member of the Children’s Oncology Group’s Long Term Follow-up and Clinical Care Translation Task Force, focusing on developing and implementing guidelines to address the health needs of Childhood Cancer Survivors.
