Biography

Salim Ahmed is an Assistant Professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland, specializing in safety risk engineering and process systems. He obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and further pursued a Ph.D. in Process Control at the University of Alberta. Dr. Ahmed has extensive teaching experience, having served as a lecturer at BUET and an Assistant Professor at Qatar University before joining Memorial University in February 2012. His research focuses on designing early warning systems for process industries and developing risk-based alarm systems, supported by grants from the Research Development Corporation of Newfoundland and Labrador. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles on topics including system identification, continuous-time models, and process safety assessment. In addition to his research, Dr. Ahmed teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Process Engineering and the Oil and Gas Engineering Program.
