Biography

Salley G. Pels, MD, is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and a Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist at Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Rhode Island. She serves as the Director of the Rhode Island Hemostasis Thrombosis Center. Dr. Pels earned her medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine and completed her Pediatric residency and Hematology/Oncology fellowship at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital, affiliated with the Yale School of Medicine. She received additional fellowship training in Hemostasis and Thrombosis and is a Clinical Fellowship awardee from the National Hemophilia Foundation. Her previous appointments include Co-Medical Director of the Yale Hemophilia Treatment Center and Assistant Professor in the Pediatrics section of Hematology/Oncology at Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Pels’ research interests focus on quality improvement in Hemophilia care, hematologic disorders during pregnancy, and therapies for immune thrombocytopenia. She has served on the board of directors for the Thrombosis Hemostasis Society of North America and is an active member of the American Thrombosis Hemostasis Network.
