Biography

Sally Cohen is a Clinical Professor at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing, with interdisciplinary scholarship spanning nursing, child health, public health, and political science. She teaches graduate nursing courses in health policy and has chaired PhD dissertation and DNP Project committees. Her recent scholarship focuses on systems of care for children and youth with special health care needs, with particular interest in health issues, education, and transitions for young children with developmental and behavioral disabilities. Prior to joining NYU, Cohen served as a Distinguished Nurse Scholar-in-Residence at the Institute of Medicine and directed the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Nursing Health Policy Collaborative at the University of New Mexico. She has held tenured faculty positions at Yale University and the University of New Mexico, where she developed and directed the Nursing Management, Policy, and Leadership specialty, a precursor to Yale's DNP program. Cohen has held leadership roles such as Director of Policy Research at the National League for Nursing and has actively advocated legislation establishing the National Institute of Nursing Research. She has received multiple awards for her writing and advocacy, and has been elected to several prestigious organizations.
