Sally White is a Research Fellow in the Department of Political and Social Change at the Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs. She has previously served as the Academic Manager for the Partnerships in Islamic Education Scholarships (PIES) program from 2018 to 2021. Sally was the research lead for an Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) project focusing on supporting women's political leadership in Indonesia and the co-lead of a research initiative on Islamic polarization in Indonesia. Her research interests include exploration of Islam and gender politics in Indonesia, with ongoing projects addressing women's political participation, dynamics within Islamic mass organizations, and the role of women in jihadist networks in Indonesia.
