Biography

Salman Durrani received his B.Sc. (1st class honours) degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, Pakistan in 2000, and his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia in December 2004. He joined the Australian National University, Canberra, Australia in 2005 and currently holds the position of Associate Professor in the School of Engineering within the College of Systems and Society. In 2021, he was appointed Associate Director Education. Dr. Durrani's research spans a wide range of topics including machine learning, communication systems, and drone communications. He has co-authored 180 publications in refereed international journals and conferences, which have garnered over 6700 citations on Google Scholar. His research has been funded by six grants totaling $1.9 million. He has supervised 100 students along with several postdoctoral fellows and has been awarded multiple accolades for his contributions to research, supervision, and teaching. Additionally, Dr. Durrani is a member of various professional organizations including Engineers Australia and the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE), where he has also served in notable editorial roles and leadership positions.
