Biography

Salmoli Choudhuri is an intellectual historian focusing on legal and political concepts that have played a foundational role in shaping modern and contemporary India, while also informing global thought. After completing her PhD at the University of Cambridge in 2023, she joined the National Law School in Bengaluru as an Assistant Professor. She is currently a Koch History Fellow at the University of Oxford. In addition to developing her doctoral thesis on Tagore's perspective on freedom, she has begun a new project exploring juristic ideas within state-thinking and anticolonial political thought. Her work has been published in various academic journals, including Political Theology, Global Intellectual History, and Economic Political Weekly.
