Dr. Salut Muhidin

Biography

Dr. Muhidin is an applied demographer with a PhD degree from the University of Groningen, Netherlands. He possesses extensive national and international experience, having held key academic research roles such as Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Queensland, and various appointments at renowned institutions including Brown University, Université de Montréal, IIASA in Austria, and the University of Indonesia. His research focuses on human resource management, business demographics, population projections, labor market dynamics, migration of skilled labor, and their broad societal impacts. His significant project work spans Asia, particularly Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Iran, as well as West Africa including Burkina Faso and Ghana, and Australia. His comparative studies on internal migration have been influential in global discussions on population dynamics, contributing to the 2009 UNDP Human Development Report. Dr. Muhidin has published extensively in high-ranking journals, with recent highlights examining trends in Indigenous entrepreneurship in Australia, the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on labor force mobility, and addressing maternal and child health issues in Bangladesh and Indonesia.
