Dr. Sam Liu

Biography

Sam Liu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Exercise Science, Physical and Health Education at the University of Victoria. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, a Master's degree, and a PhD from the University of Toronto, followed by a Post-Doctoral fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles. His research primarily focuses on chronic disease prevention management, with a specific emphasis on developing and evaluating the effectiveness of digital communication technologies such as the Internet and mobile phones to aid individuals in preventing chronic diseases. Additionally, Liu investigates innovative methods for monitoring and predicting health behaviors and outcomes using big data, aiming to tailor personal digital health interventions. His work contributes significantly to the fields of eHealth and mHealth, addressing critical aspects of health promotion and surveillance through physical activity initiatives.
