Biography

Sam Morris is an Early Career Research Fellow in the Medical Sciences Division at the University of Oxford. His research focuses on population statistical genetics, utilizing biobank-scale datasets to study natural selection, admixture, and genetic variation in relation to complex trait variation. He is particularly interested in population structure and ancestry variation within Chinese populations. Sam is involved in research examining the genetic basis of diseases and traits through genome-wide association studies (GWAS), gene-burden testing, and proteomic analyses, as well as contributing to drug target development for neurological disorders influenced by genetic variation in the HLA region. He completed his PhD in ancient DNA and statistical genetics at University College London and earned a BSc in Biology from the University of Sheffield, where he also researched the genetics of wild insect populations.
