Biography

The Riesenfeld Group develops and utilizes machine learning approaches to investigate complex biological systems, leveraging large-scale, system-wide, transcriptomic multimodal data to identify key cellular components and molecular circuitry that underlie tissue-based immune responses. By combining experimental and computational analyses, the group aims to understand the factors that influence complex immune responses and predict how manipulations can alter these responses. Their research focuses on areas including inflammatory immune responses, neuroimmune interactions, and solid tumor cancers. Recently, the group was awarded the Quantum Bio grant from Wellcome Leap Quantum Bio, aimed at transforming cancer care through the application of artificial intelligence and quantum algorithms to drive personalized diagnostics and treatments. Sam has also participated in the AI+Science conference at UChicago and Caltech, sharing insights on the intersection of artificial intelligence and scientific research.
