Dr. Samantha Huey

Biography

Samantha Lee Huey is a Research Associate in Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University, where she focuses on precision nutrition and maternal child health. She completed her B.S. in Biology, with minors in Nutrition and Global Diseases, at Cedar Crest College in 2013. Samantha earned her PhD in Nutritional Sciences from Cornell University in 2020, concentrating on International Nutrition with minors in Epidemiology and Immunology & Infectious Diseases. Her dissertation, conducted during her time in Mumbai, explored the connections between nutrition status and gut microbiomes in children. Samantha has experience leading complex study designs in urban slums of Mumbai, managing numerous personnel for clinical trials. Her current research inquiries delve into the effects of biofortified crops on gut microbiomes and long-term health outcomes. Samantha is an active participant in the NIH Nutrition Precision Health Initiative and leads efforts to synthesize evidence on vitamin D supplementation and obesity. Her work is published in various nutrition and microbiology journals, contributing valuable insights to the field and informing guidelines for health interventions promoted by organizations like the World Health Organization.
