Biography

Samantha Lee is a Clinical Supervisor at the Policy Advocacy Clinic at UC Berkeley Law. She began her legal career as a public defender, where she represented parents in child abuse and neglect cases, before transitioning to focus on local, state, and national policy work aimed at ending the criminalization of pregnancy and addressing the intersection of health care, criminal justice, and family policing systems. Samantha has also clerked for the Honorable Anne E. Thompson in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. She received her Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from New York University School of Law in 2016 and holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in International Relations from Stanford University, obtained in 2011. In addition to her work, Samantha enjoys outdoor activities such as backpacking and hiking, and she has a passion for learning ceramics.
