Samantha Livingstone graduated from the University of Queensland in 2011 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Hons). She worked in small animal practice before specializing strictly in emergency critical care starting in 2014. She obtained memberships in emergency critical care in 2017 from the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS). Samantha returned to the University of Queensland in late 2018 to complete her PhD in critical care at the Critical Care Research Group, The Prince Charles Hospital, while continuing her work as an emergency critical care veterinarian. Passionate about education, she has contributed to the veterinary field through webinars and has been a capacity board member of the ANZCVS. Actively involved in reviewing training programs for veterinary residents, Samantha joined the Sydney School of Veterinary Science in 2023 as a full-time academic and is responsible for teaching veterinary emergency critical care. Her ongoing research projects include the assessment of coagulation dysfunction biomarkers, development of novel peripheral intravenous catheters, and impacts of severe cardiopulmonary failure, among others.
