Samantha Pollard holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of British Columbia, a Master of Science in Health Research Methodology from McMaster University, and a PhD in Population Public Health from the University of British Columbia. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship at BC Cancer, where she generated data to inform reimbursement and patient access decisions for precision oncology services and technologies. Pollard serves as a co-investigator for the Canadian Network for Learning Healthcare Systems Cost-Effective ‘Omics Innovations (CLEO) and the Precision Oncology Evidence Development Cancer Treatment (PREDiCT) program. Additionally, she is a member of the Terry Fox Research Institute Marathon Hope Cancer Centres Network’s Health Technology Assessment Working Group, and the convener for the International Health Economics Association’s Economics Genomics Precision Medicine Special Interest Group. Joining SFU’s Faculty of Health Sciences in January 2024, she was appointed as Practitioner Faculty and Assistant Professor in 2025. Pollard's research lab focuses on generating patient- and family-valued evidence for pediatric oncology access and implementation decisions. Her research methodology includes direct engagement with patients, advocates, and caregivers to co-develop value-informed methods of evidence regarding post-market oncology innovations.
