Biography

Samantha Rivard, MD, is an Assistant Professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine specializing in colorectal surgery. She received her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed her general surgery residency at the University of Michigan in 2023. Following her residency, she pursued a colorectal surgery fellowship at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School. Dr. Rivard's research interests focus on improving care quality and quality of life for colorectal patients, particularly those with rectal cancer and patients with ostomies. Her work also includes implementing statewide quality improvement projects aimed at reducing ileostomy readmissions due to dehydration. Dr. Rivard has been recognized with several awards, including the Medicine: Making a Difference Award from the University of Michigan in 2022, and she is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society.
