Dr. Samantha Seto

Biography

Dr. Samantha Seto joined the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University in 2022, having obtained her PhD from the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington in Seattle. A certified public accountant and chartered accountant, she has previous professional experience working at the University of Toronto in financial reporting and budget management, as well as Ernst & Young LLP in audit and transactions advisory in Toronto and Atlanta. Dr. Seto's research primarily focuses on the influence of accounting information disclosure on individual judgment and decision-making. Her studies examine the evolving landscape of disclosure and its impact on the behavior and judgments of key stakeholders, including investors, managers, and auditors. Her research has been funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and the CPA Education Foundation. She currently serves on the editorial board of Accounting Perspectives.
