Biography

Sameer Deshpande is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He completed his Ph.D. at the Wharton School under the supervision of Professors Ed George and Veronika Rockova. Prior to his current position, Dr. Deshpande spent several years in a postdoctoral role with Professor Tamara Broderick at MIT. His research interests focus on Bayesian hierarchical modeling, treed regression, model selection, and causal inference, specifically in applications related to public health and sports. Outside of academia, he enjoys cooking, making cocktails, and photography. A long-time supporter of Dallas professional sports teams, he is known for wearing a giant Texas belt buckle.
