Biography

Sameer Iyer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Davis. He received his Bachelor of Science from Brown University in 2012, and continued his academic journey at the same institution, earning a Master of Science in 2013, followed by a Ph.D. in 2018, under the guidance of advisor Yan Guo. After completing his doctoral studies, he held a National Science Foundation (NSF) postdoctoral position at Princeton University from 2018 to 2021. In 2021, he joined UC Davis as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor starting July 2025. His research primarily focuses on nonlinear partial differential equations, fluid mechanics, and hydrodynamic stability, areas in which he has published numerous articles. Iyer has received several grants, including an NSF CAREER grant, and is actively involved in mentoring graduate students. He also organizes and participates in various workshops and seminars, further contributing to the academic community in applied mathematics and fluid mechanics.
