Biography

Samia Hurst-Majno is a physician bioethicist and the Director of the Institute of Ethics, History, and Humanities (iEH2) at the University of Geneva. She serves as a consultant to the Clinical Ethics Council at the University Hospitals Geneva and has been a prominent figure in bioethical discourse. Hurst-Majno is also the president of the Swiss Society of Biomedical Ethics and a Vice-President of the Executive Committee of the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences (CIOMS). She has participated in various advisory groups, including the Ethical Legal Social Issues group for the Swiss Personalized Health Network and the Swiss National Advisory Commission on Biomedical Ethics. Hurst-Majno's research interests focus on ethical issues in clinical practice, health policy ethics, and the protection of vulnerable populations, particularly in the context of personalized medicine. She is actively involved in public discussions and media on bioethical issues and maintains a blog dedicated to bioethics. Hurst-Majno co-organizes the Brocher Summer Academies on Ethics and Global Population Health at Harvard University and has been a foundational member of the European Clinical Ethics Network.
