Dr. Samir Gautam

Biography

Samir Gautam, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine specializing in Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. He earned his MD and PhD in Cell Biology from Yale, and completed his residency in Internal Medicine followed by a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the same institution. His clinical focus is on managing acute and chronic respiratory conditions including asthma and lung diseases, where he provides advanced respiratory support in critical care settings. He has a keen interest in research related to pulmonary pathology and previously received several accolades for his contributions including the NIH/NHLBI Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Fellowship and the Yale K08 Mentored Clinical Scientist Development Award. Besides clinical responsibilities, Dr. Gautam is actively involved in teaching and mentoring medical students and fellows, guiding them through complex concepts in homeostasis and organ system interactions. His academic endeavors have led to numerous publications, fostering collaboration with colleagues in the field.
