Biography

Samira Farivar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Systems at the Sprott School of Business, Carleton University. She holds a PhD in Information Systems from McMaster University and both BSc and MSc degrees in Industrial Engineering from Sharif University of Technology and Amirkabir University of Technology, respectively. Dr. Farivar's research focuses on how emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), conversational agents, and platforms, are reshaping user behavior, organizational accountability, and business operations. Her work covers dimensions such as conversational AI, human–technology interaction, influencer marketing, digital advocacy, AI transparency, algorithmic trust, and social commerce platform design. Additionally, she conducts research on technology-mediated interactions and data-driven decision-making in supply chain management. Her research has been published in leading journals including Information & Management, Internet Research, and Computers in Human Behavior. Currently, she is on sabbatical and has been awarded a New SSHRC research project from the Sprott School of Business.
