Dr. Sammi Tyler

Biography

Sammi Tyler is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. With a background in osteopathic pediatrics, she specializes in the care of newborns, particularly in the Newborn Nursery at UnityPoint Health-Meriter. Dr. Tyler has a strong clinical focus on preventive care, helping infants achieve a healthy and meaningful start to life through support for breastfeeding, early development, and integrative approaches to common newborn concerns. She is particularly passionate about applying osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) to support feeding and infant development, fostering meaningful conversations with families during this critical period of growth. An active participant in medical education, Tyler leads a Residents Teacher elective and co-leads the OMM Pathway in the pediatrics residency program, where she teaches both locally and nationally. Her dedication to education and clinical excellence has been recognized with several awards, including the Outstanding Resident of the Year from the American Osteopathic Foundation and the Outstanding Clerkship Teaching by a Pediatric Resident award. Dr. Tyler's research interests include the application of OMM for feeding difficulties, plagiocephaly, and torticollis, as well as enhancing clinical reasoning and the integration of osteopathic principles in pediatric residency training.
