Biography

Samra Turajlic is a Group Leader at the Francis Crick Institute in the Cancer Dynamics Laboratory. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Oxford and clinical training at University College London, then obtained her PhD in 2013 from the Institute of Cancer Research, focusing on melanoma genetics and targeted therapy resistance. In 2014, she was awarded a Cancer Research UK Clinician Scientist Fellowship to study cancer evolution at the Francis Crick Institute. After completing her training in medical oncology in 2015, she was appointed as a Consultant Medical Oncologist at the Skin and Urology Units of the Royal Marsden. In 2019, she became an independent Group Leader at the Francis Crick Institute. Dr. Turajlic is the Chief Investigator of translational studies into melanoma and kidney cancer (TRACERx), aiming to develop an evolutionary understanding of cancer for patient benefit. She is a member of the NCRI Bladder and Renal Cancer Clinical Studies Group and serves on the ESMO Faculty for genitourinary cancers, among other roles. She has received funding from Cancer Research UK, Rosetrees Trust and the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
