Professor Dr. Samuel Armato

Biography

Samuel Armato has an established career in medical physics with a focus on computerized techniques for quantitative analysis of medical images, particularly in assessing tumor response to therapy. His research encompasses computerized detection and evaluation of lung nodules in thoracic computed tomography (CT) scans, image quality assessment of pathologic changes, and the application of radiomics for predicting complications in normal lung tissue post-radiation therapy. As the local principal investigator for the Lung Image Database Consortium, Armato has directed extensive image-based projects at the University of Chicago's Human Imaging Research Office. He has published multiple articles and has been involved in substantial federal grant-funded research projects.
