Samuel Estreicher is a nationally preeminent scholar in international-comparative labor and employment law and arbitration law. He has authored more than a dozen books, including 'Elite Law: Access to Civil Justice in America' (with Joy Radice, Cambridge University Press, 2016), and has published over 200 articles in professional academic journals. Estreicher served as the Chief Reporter for the American Law Institute's Restatement of Employment Law (2015). He began his academic career at NYU School of Law in 1978, following clerkships with Justice Lewis F. Powell Jr. of the Supreme Court and Judge Harold Leventhal of the DC Circuit Court of Appeals, and practicing in a labor law firm. He has held significant roles within the legal community, including secretary of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the American Bar Association and chair of the Labor and Employment Law Association in New York City. In 2010, he received the Susan C. Eaton Award for Outstanding Scholar-Practitioner from the Labor and Employment Research Association. His recent works have focused on public international law, with contributions to briefs for the Supreme Court on employment and foreign relations law issues. Estreicher holds a BA from Columbia College, an MS in Industrial Relations from Cornell University, and a JD from Columbia Law School, where he served as editor-in-chief of the Columbia Law Review. He is a member of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and was appointed by the UN Secretary-General to the UN’s Internal Justice Commission in 2016.
