Biography

Samuel Owusu Achiaw is a researcher with a clinical background at the Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment Unit at the University of Glasgow. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree from Kwame Nkrumah University in Ghana and a Master of Public Health with a specialization in Health Economics from the University of Glasgow. Samuel currently chairs the SHW Athena Swan International Staff Students Working Group and is a member of the SHW Athena Swan UG/PGT group. His research interests include health technology assessment, digital health technologies, economic evaluation, and public health interventions, particularly in healthcare financing in low- and middle-income countries. Recent projects include assessing the value of biosensor-integrated arteriovenous grafts and the RADICAL trial focusing on artificial intelligence integrated diagnostic pathways for lung cancer detection. He has also received various grants and awards while working at the University of Glasgow, including initiatives aimed at enhancing student-led actions and improving equality, diversity, and inclusion within curricula.
