Dr. Samuel Poloyac

Biography

Samuel M. Poloyac is the Dean of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Texas at Austin. He began his tenure in this role on October 15, 2020. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from the University of Pittsburgh and subsequently obtained his post-baccalaureate PharmD and PhD degrees from the University of Kentucky. His career has focused on pharmacy education, research, and service at the University of Pittsburgh, where he served as Associate Dean for Graduate and Postdoctoral Programs before moving to Texas. Poloyac has led several research initiatives, making significant discoveries in the field of Critical Care Pharmacology, including advancements in drug dosing for patients undergoing targeted temperature management post-cardiac arrest. His research has been funded by notable institutions such as the NIH and the American Heart Association, totaling over $9 million in support, with $7 million as a principal investigator. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers and has considerable experience fostering collaborations in research and education. He's recognized as a Fellow of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and has held leadership roles in various educational committees. Poloyac emphasizes innovative teaching methodologies and is passionate about training the next generation of pharmacy professionals.
