Dr. Samuel Tranter

Biography

Samuel Tranter is a McDonald Postdoctoral Fellow in Christian Ethics and Public Life at Christ Church, University of Oxford. He holds degrees from the University of Aberdeen (BD, MTh) and Durham University (PhD). Over the past year, he has taught theology and ethics at various theological colleges and universities in the UK and Southeast Asia. In addition to his teaching role, he serves as the Director of Postgraduate Studies and Academic Dean at Cranmer Hall, St John's College, Durham University, and is an Honorary Research Fellow in the Department of Theology and Religion at Durham. Samuel is a member of the Society for the Study of Christian Ethics, where he has previously served on the committee, and the Society for the Study of Theology. He has also completed a PG Cert in Academic Practice and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. His research focuses on the intersections of theology, ethics, and public life, and he is involved in various projects at the McDonald Centre for Theology, Ethics, and Public Life.
