Professor Dr. Sanaz Memarzadeh

Biography

Sanaz Memarzadeh is a surgeon-scientist and Professor at the University of California Los Angeles. She directs the G.O. Discovery Laboratory, which focuses on advancing care and research for women impacted by gynecologic cancers. The primary goal of her laboratory is to improve treatment protocols for gynecologic cancers, particularly ovarian and endometrial cancers, by investigating effective and tolerable therapies. G.O. Discovery Laboratory emphasizes high throughput drug screening, targeting therapy-resistant ovarian cancers, and the development of patient-derived xenografts for testing novel therapeutics. Her research also explores unique cellular lineages as therapeutic targets and aims to overcome challenges such as drug resistance in ovarian cancer treatments. The lab is well-funded by federal, state, and philanthropic sources, and works on innovative approaches to enhance patient care in gynecologic oncology.
