Biography

Sandi W. Smith is the Director of the Health Risk Communication Center and a University Distinguished Professor at Michigan State University, where she teaches courses in persuasion, communication theory, and interpersonal communication. Her research focuses on interpersonal communication campaigns within health contexts, exploring the impact of social norms, memorable messages, and social support on health behaviors. She has received numerous honors for her teaching and research, including being named a Fellow of the International Communication Association in 2012 and being honored as a University Distinguished Professor in 2017. Sandi earned her Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Southern California.
