Dr. Sandor Vajda

Biography

Sandor Vajda is a Professor at Boston University, where he holds appointments in the College of Engineering and the Department of Chemistry. He directs the Biomolecular Engineering Research Center, focusing on the modeling of biological macromolecules. His research involves protein-protein interactions, protein docking, and the maturation of antibodies, as well as protein aggregation. Vajda's work extends to the characterization of protein binding sites, target identification, and the assessment of druggability, incorporating computational methods for fragment-based drug discovery. He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and has held research positions at prestigious institutions such as Princeton University and the University of Warwick. Additionally, he co-founded SolMap Pharmaceuticals, a start-up dedicated to fragment-based drug design, which was later acquired by Forma Therapeutics. Vajda currently serves as the Chief Scientific Officer at Acpharis Inc., a company focusing on software development for drug discovery. His research interests lie at the intersection of computational biology and biochemistry, aiming to improve techniques in molecular interactions and drug design.
