Biography

Sandosh Padmanabhan completed his MBBS and MD at JIPMER, Pondicherry, India, where he was awarded a Gold Medal for his MD in General Medicine in 1995. He pursued his PhD from 1999 to 2003, focusing on G-protein signalling in hypertension, and received the Bellahouston Medal from the University of Glasgow in 2004. He was honored with the Austin Doyle Award by the International Society of Hypertension in 2004. His work includes a pharmacogenetic genome-wide linkage study supported by a British Heart Foundation Intermediate Fellowship from 2006 to 2009. He led a genome-wide association analysis of hypertension that resulted in the discovery of a novel gene pathway associated with the condition between 2008 and 2010. He served as a visiting fellow at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT from 2010 to 2012. Padmanabhan is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, the British Hypertension Society, and the American Heart Association. His research interests center on Vascular Diseases and Comorbidities, combining epidemiology and randomized clinical trials with high-throughput genomics and metabolomics to dissect cardiovascular traits and drug responses. He holds leadership positions in research consortia, editorial boards, and various committees, focusing on enhancing hypertension management and understanding cardiovascular health.
