Dr. Sandra Ball Rokeach

Biography

Sandra Ball-Rokeach is a communication scholar and Professor Emerita at USC Annenberg, where she serves as the director of the Communication Technology and Community Program. Her scholarly work has been published in top-tier communication journals including Communication Research, Journalism Quarterly, and the American Sociological Review. She has held significant roles in academia, such as co-editor of Communication Research from 1992 to 1997 and is recognized for her contributions to various editorial boards. A Fulbright Scholar at Hebrew University and a Rockefeller Fellow at the Bellagio Study Center, she is also involved with advisory boards including the Southern California Injury Prevention Research Center. With a focus on evolving communication methods, her current research, known as the Metamorphosis Project, seeks to examine the transformation of social fabrics in urban communities through various communication flows. She is honored for her mentorship, having received several awards, including the 2013 Provost’s Mentorship Award. Her publications include co-authored works on ethnic media and technological advancements, reflecting her deep engagement in the fields of communication and social issues.
