Dr. Sandra Chuang

Biography

Sandra Chuang is a Clinical Academic and Senior Lecturer focused on Education in the Discipline of Paediatrics and Child Health at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney. She is a passionate paediatric respiratory physician based at the Sydney Children's Hospital. Dr. Chuang has dedicated her career to improving child health through education and research, emphasizing community engagement. Her research interests include the evaluation of respiratory function in children, particularly utilizing non-invasive measures. She has developed a strong interest in various respiratory conditions affecting children, including cystic fibrosis, congenital diaphragmatic hernia, and neuromuscular diseases. Dr. Chuang completed her PhD in 2019, with her thesis titled "Non-invasive Measures of Neural Respiratory Drive in Children: Utility of Respiratory Muscle Electromyography." Additionally, she actively participates in the Education Training Subcommittee and serves as co-convenor of the Paediatric Special Interest Group of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand.
