Sandra Kamo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Toronto. Her expertise encompasses uranium-lead (U-Pb) geochronology and isotope dilution thermal ionization mass spectrometry (ID-TIMS). Her research in geochronology facilitates exploration of a wide array of geological questions spanning the entire geological timescale. Kamo's work contributes to the understanding of the development of greenstone belts and early Precambrian gneiss terranes, as well as establishing the rates of dinosaur evolution in southern Alberta. She conducts geological isotopic investigations that help illuminate the development of Earth's lithosphere and the evolution of life on the planet. In addition to her research, Kamo collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to investigate the causes of end-Permian extinctions, to calibrate the geological timescale, and to establish plate reconstructions using high-precision dating of mafic magmatic events.
